"Turning passion into pages and pages into purpose."
Monique Johnson is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and the founder of Dream Big Publishing, LLC. Her journey into publishing began through her work with children and families, where she recognized that healing does not happen in just one format. Some people process through conversation. Others through visuals. Many children, especially, learn best through stories.
Through years of clinical practice, Monique saw firsthand how difficult it can be for children to understand diagnoses, therapy, grief, separation, and emotional challenges. She realized there was a need for relatable, developmentally appropriate books that made mental health conversations less intimidating and more empowering. That realization led to the creation of her first children’s book, Micah Goes to Therapy, designed to help normalize the counseling process. She later authored The Thompson Family Goes to Therapy, a story centered around helping children process grief and loss within the family system.
Her passion for writing extends beyond children’s literature. As a therapist, mother of two daughters, and woman who understands the realities of parenting, relationships, and personal growth, Monique uses writing as both an outlet and a platform for impact. She is currently expanding her work into relationship healing and personal development, creating resources that help individuals navigate life’s complexities with clarity and confidence.
Dream Big Publishing was founded on the belief that storytelling heals, education empowers, and creativity should never feel out of reach. Monique’s mission is to make the publishing process approachable for independent authors while continuing to create meaningful, purpose-driven content that helps people live healthier, more intentional lives.
“People should not be defined by their mistakes, but it’s what you do afterwards that determines who you really are.”-Monique Johnson
